Faith Formation

Nursery, CIW and Adults

Nursery

Nursery begins when the service begins, so come to check your little one in between 10:25-10:30 a.m. Nursery age generally begins at 6 months and continues up to kindergarten. Nursery kids play with toys, read stories, or join in “Godly Play” — which involves biblical storytelling with small wooden figures in a worshipful way.

Children in Worship (CIW)

Children in Worship is for kids from 1st
to 5th grades. We generally use a series called Shine for Bible lessons, including crafts and fun activities.

Youth Group

Youth Group meets once a month on Sunday mornings for games, conversation and Bible study, led by our youth coordinator, Jason Smith and another adult co-lead.

We also gather about monthly during the school year on a weekend afternoon to hang out and share a meal or other fun activity at the homes of different families from church.

Adult faith formation general comes in series, for example a membership class before the service, or a documentary afterward with lunch.

Many Christians intuitively desire to love and welcome their LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors, and are heartbroken by the injustice they see in both political and ecclesiastical spheres. And yet, for many, Scripture seems to present a barrier to full inclusion. They feel forced to choose between their faith and the LGBTQ+ folks they love. Holding Faith/Holding Family takes a step back and looks at how we read Scripture and the process of discernment in order to explore the “clobber verses” thoughtfully and prayerfully. This will be a space where you can ask your most honest questions, dare to share your fears and hopes, and bring struggles from conversations with loved ones who may not share your same views. We will read together The Widening of God’s Mercy by Richard & Christopher Hays, which takes us beyond proof-texting to observe the wide over-arching love and inclusion of our boundary-breaking God. The goal is to find a bigger, joyful table, with room for all. Come if you want to learn more on the journey toward inclusion, come if you are wrestling with Scripture, or come if you simply desire to have better conversations with family or friends for whom the Bible gets in the way of inclusion!
