This committee will support the PMC community in fulfilling its membership promises to each other by encouraging and facilitating the mutual support of the congregation. This support extends beyond financial needs to all ways that people need their communities in order to thrive, but the primary task of this committee will be the distribution of mutual aid funds and creating conversation in the community about mutual aid.

If you are a member or regular attender at PMC and are willing to share how you and your household are experiencing the Coronavirus Pandemic and the Safer-at-Home order, it will help the Mutual Aid, Pastoral Care, Congregational Life, and Organizing committees in planning for caring and supporting one another in the days and months ahead. If you have filled this out before but are under different circumstances now, you may fill it out again or let one of us know via email.

PMC’s Mutual Aid fund is intended for distribution among the PMC community of current attenders and participants. Within our Mutual Aid fund we have created a Solidarity Fund; a minimum of 10% of funds collected are shared forward to other Mennonite organizations or local community needs.
As of Nov 2020 we have given $46,000.
Currently, PMC’s Mutual Aid Fund prioritizes financial solidarity around essential needs such as food, housing costs, utilities, healthcare, transportation, etc.
Our current process for discernment of sharing is to receive an inquiry or request, seek any needed clarifying information of the requestor, meet as a Mutual Aid team (at least three of the team), and return to the requestor with a response and/or offer of funds.

The Solidarity giving is proposed and decided internally by the MA team, but if you have a recommendation or know of a need in our local community, you’re welcome to email us!
