Rebuilding Dena with Mennonite Disaster Service

PMC and Mennonite Disaster Service are working together to support our neighbors after the Eaton Fire.
MDS brings volunteers together to repair and rebuild homes after disasters across the United States and Canada. Here in Pasadena and Altadena, our partnership connects that experience with local relationships and a place to gather.
From receiving help to making room
After the January 2025 fire, MDS’s California Unit paid half the cost of professionally cleaning our shared church building; the three congregations raised the rest. That support helped us return to worship and community life.
Now, alongside Church of the Brethren and our building partners, PMC is helping prepare the campus to host MDS volunteers for a long-term recovery project. Plans described in February 2026 included volunteer housing, kitchen improvements, and a project office. PMC member Dan Sharp serves as the church’s liaison to the project.
Walking alongside our neighbors
Recovery takes time, practical help, and people who keep showing up. Hosting volunteers is one way we can support the work of rebuilding homes and sustaining community in Dena.
